Die Schutzengelsonate reiste mit mir durch die letzten Jahre. Ich spielte sie zu meinem Diplomkonzert in Weimar, dann in Trekkinghostels im Himalaya und an spanischen Stränden, auf Segelbooten in Alaska und Schweden, in vielen privaten Wohnzimmern, bei einer Jurten-Einweihung in Norddeutschland und so oft als Dank an meine Gastgeber für Bett, Essen und warmherzige Gesellschaft - mit dem tiefen Wunsch, ihnen einen Engel auf den Weg zu geben, der sie beschützt und leitet.
Für mich ist dieses Stück Musik eine der schönsten Kompositionen, die je geschrieben wurden. Es gleicht einem Spiegel auf das menschliche Leben: Die sich immer wiederholenden Töne g - f - es - d sind wie die Schritte, die wir in unserem täglichen Leben laufen... oder wie unser Herz, das ohne Unterlass schlägt... wie unser Atem, dessen Zyklus weiter und weiter trägt... Um diese vier Noten herum weben sich Melodien, Geschichten von Schmerz und Freude, von Wildheit und Ruhe. Die Geschichten füllen den fortwährenden Atem mit Leben, geben ihm einen Geschmack, sind kreativer Ausdruck des Bewusstseins, ein Spiel des Lebens...

The Guardian angel sonata travelled with me throughout the last years. I played it for my diploma concert in Weimar, then in himalayan trekking huts and on spanish beaches, on sailing boats in Alaska and Sweden, in private living room concerts, for a yurt initiation in northern Germany, and so often as thanks to my hosts for a bed, food and warmhearted company - with a deep wish for my listeners to be guided and protected by their guardian angel.
To me this piece of music is one of the most beautiful compositions I know. It seems like a reflection of human life - the ever repeating four notes
g - f - e flat - d appear to me like the steps we take in our daily life - or like our breath ever cycling without stopping, or like our heart beating... Around those four basic notes arise melodies, just like stories of joy and pain, of celebration and contemplation. These stories fill the ever-present breath with life, give a taste to it -
a creative expression of consciousness, a play of life...
